Getting started
Leaflet opens with a Welcome to Leaflet page that shows what a page can do. Make a page with the new page button in the sidebar, then type. Markdown works as you write: # for a heading, - for a list, [ ] for a to-do. Type / for any block, and @ to mention a page or an agent.
You don’t need an account: Leaflet works on your device from the start.
Syncing your devices
Through iCloud Drive
- Make sure iCloud Drive is on, on every device.
- In Leaflet, open Settings › Sync and storage and turn on iCloud sync.
- Choose the Leaflet folder in iCloud Drive, the same one on each device.
On Windows, iCloud sync needs iCloud for Windows.
Through your own Leaflet server
- On a Mac or PC, sign in to sync and choose Continue with Supabase. Leaflet finds or creates a project in your Supabase account and sets it up.
- On iPhone or iPad, open Settings › Account › Sync, choose Continue with Supabase and sign in with the same Supabase account.
A device syncs either through iCloud Drive or through a Leaflet server, not both: signing in turns iCloud sync off.
Setting up an agent
Open Settings › Agent providers and add one:
- A cloud provider such as OpenAI, Claude, xAI, OpenRouter, DeepSeek or GLM, with your API key, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint.
- Sign in with ChatGPT to use your ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan.
- A model server on your network, such as Ollama or LM Studio, by its address.
Then type @ and the agent’s name in a page, ask about some text you’ve chosen, or open the Agent panel. Every run can be undone in one step.
A server on your network can’t be reached? Make sure your iPhone or iPad is on the same network, that Leaflet is allowed in Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network, and that the server listens on your network rather than only on its own computer (for Ollama, start it with OLLAMA_HOST=0.0.0.0).
Recording and transcription
Press Record at the top of a page to record into it. To record a voice note without opening Leaflet:
- Action Button: in the Settings app, open Action Button, choose Controls or Shortcut, and pick Leaflet’s Record Voice Note.
- Control Center and the Lock Screen: add the Record Voice Note control.
- Siri: say “Record a voice note in Leaflet”.
Each voice note goes into a page of its own in your Voice Notes folder, or the folder chosen in Settings. Choose how recordings are transcribed in Settings › Speech to text: on this device, with no key; Soniox; MOSS; or an endpoint of your own.
Reminders
Give a to-do a due date and Leaflet reminds you at its time, or at 9:00 if it has no time. Reminders are Time Sensitive, so they can get through a Focus you allow them in. If none arrive, check that notifications are on for Leaflet in the Settings app.
Exporting and deleting
- A page: Export in its menu saves it as Markdown or PDF.
- Every page: Settings › Account › Export all pages saves a zip of Markdown files.
- Your account: signed in to a Leaflet server, Settings › Account › Delete account deletes your data on the server and on the device. It can’t be undone.
The Privacy Policy explains what each of these deletes.
